A Mindful December

A SEASON OF CRAFTING JOY AND FINDING PEACE IN THE PROCESS

Certain holiday traditions bring me much needed calm and intention at a time of the year that can be somewhat hectic and draining. Creating handmade ornaments and putting my design efforts into our yearly Christmas card are hands down 2 of my favorite things (que the Julie Andrews music in the background)!

This year I jumped on the hand painted bisque ornament bandwagon. Getting into the studio with a cup of tea, holiday music, scented candle lit and fresh paint supplies to whip up these one-of-a-kind hand painted gifts was such a relaxing break from the hustle of the season. I loved every minute creating these and I’m already planning a ornament collection to offer next Christmas in the shop!

I felt lucky to get some great snapshots right after a fresh snowfall (thanks to my Dad who was my last-minute-on-call-Photographer) for our yearly family portrait. We actually had fun for this one (that isn’t always the case), running around in the snow and throwing some lights on the trees in our backyard. It came together smoother then usual as I decided to enjoy the process and trust that Photoshop can take care of the rest.

It was definitely a December to remember with beautiful snowy weather, low key family time, outings and celebrations that I found myself able to honestly enjoy with intention instead of that nagging pressure to do more. Practicing a pause and “be” mindset brought me peace and rest through the season, truly a lasting lesson to take into the new year!
